Day 2 Romans 2 Romans 2:1 Therefore you art inexcusable, O man, whosoever you art that judge: for wherein you judge another, you condemn yourself; for you who judge do the same things. 2 But we are sure that the judgment of God is according to truth against them which commit such things. 3 And think thou this, O man, who judge them which do such things, and do the same, that you shalt escape the judgment of God? 4 Or despise thou the riches of his goodness and forbearance and longsuffering; not knowing that the goodness of God leads thee to repentance? 5 But after thy hardness and impenitent heart treasure up unto yourself wrath against the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God; 6 Who will render to every man according to his deeds: 7 To them who by patient continuance in well doing seek for glory and honor and immortality, eternal life: 8 But unto them who are contentious, and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, indignation and wrath, 9 Tribulation and anguish, upon every soul of man who does evil, of the Jew first, and also of the Gentile; 10 But glory, honor, and peace, to every man who works good, to the Jew first, and also to the Gentile: 11 For there is no respect of persons with God. 12 For as many as have sinned without law shall also perish without law: and as many as have sinned in the law shall be judged by the law; 13 (For not the hearers of the law are just before God, but the doers of the law shall be justified. 14 For when the Gentiles, which have not the law, do by nature the things contained in the law, these, having not the law, are a law unto themselves: 15 Which show the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and their thoughts the mean while accusing or else excusing one another;) 16 In the day when God shall judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ according to my gospel. 17 Behold, thou art called a Jew, and rest in the law, and make thy boast of God, 18 And know his will, and approve the things that are more excellent, being instructed out of the law; 19 And art confident that you yourself art a guide of the blind, a light of them which are in darkness, 20 An instructor of the foolish, a teacher of babes, which hast the form of knowledge and of the truth in the law. 21 You therefore which teach another, teach you not yourself? You who preach a man should not steal, do you steal? 22 You who say a man should not commit adultery, do you commit adultery? You who abhor idols, do you commit sacrilege? 23 You who make your boast of the law, through breaking the law dishonor you God? 24 For the name of God is blasphemed among the Gentiles through you, as it is written. 25 For circumcision verily profits, if you keep the law: but if you be a breaker of the law, your circumcision is made uncircumcision. 26 Therefore if the uncircumcision keeps the righteousness of the law, shall not his uncircumcision be counted for circumcision? 27 And shall not uncircumcision which is by nature, if it fulfill the law, judge you, who by the letter and circumcision do transgress the law? 28 For he is not a Jew, which is one outwardly; neither is that circumcision, which is outward in the flesh: 29 But he is a Jew, which is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit, and not in the letter; whose praise is not of men, but of God. What do you take exception to? Do you judge everyone by your standards and not consider your actions? Paul saw how people lived and conducted their lives. He saw how they forced people to live according to the law, while their rulers paid no attention to the law and considered they were above the law. Yet, Paul showed how no man is above the law, for God will judge everyone out of the law. It isn’t in how good we are and how bad everyone else is. It’s how we live our lives by faith in Jesus Christ. Even as Christians, you tend to put yourself on a higher plane than those who don’t know Christ or follow His teachings. You put yourself on a higher plane than those Christians who are new to the faith and don’t know the Word of God as well as you. You put your righteousness out there for all to see and condemn anyone who isn’t at the same level of faith as yourself. God is no respecter of persons. You all came to faith the same way. You saw the sin in your life and asked Jesus to take it from you, seeking His forgiveness. You all needed to learn what God said in His Word so you would know what He required of you. You are no better or worse than your fellow believers in Jesus Christ. Stop acting as though you are. Humble yourself in the sight of the Lord, and He will lift you up. James 4:10 Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up. (KJV) Psalm 37:3 Trust in the LORD, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed. 4 Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart. 5 Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass. 6 And he shall bring forth thy righteousness as the light, and thy judgment as the noonday. (KJV) When you turn your heart to God and Jesus your Savior, God will raise you up. You won’t need to do or say anything to promote your cause. Let’s pray: Father, You know my heart and my mind. You know if I exalt myself or lift you up. Help me promote You and Your ways and not my agenda. Keep me humble, so I will always see Your hand guiding my life. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
