He rarely wants to sit with me!

This cat I have now is nowhere near as friendly as my previous cat, or should I say cats. I had one cat, who wasn't a lap cat, but he used to always sit beside me on the arm of the chair. This cat will rarely lap sit, and usually just plays around when I ask him to sit with me. I did lay on the couch yesterday and he came over..but mostly he just wants to do his own thing. Part of it may have to do with the fact that he is still a kitten and always "busy" but I think he just isn't that people oriented. I hope he comes around. Did you ever have a cat that warmed up over time? I hope he isn't like this forever.

Hopefully he'll get quieter and friendlier as he ages.

He is semi friendly, but he doesn't like to sit with me much it seems. Actually, guess who just crawled into my lap? Well techincally my chest since the laptop is on my lap..but he loves it after I take a bath because I am warm!

@snowy22315 I do hope he gets more friendly over time - or maybe you'll just have to take lots of baths!

Oh, I hope with time he will warm up. He might just be more interested in kitten things, he's still little. My puppy is a few months old and he won't stay still long enough to get lot's of affection and when he's resting he wants to be left alone. I think he will also warm up with time-they are just so curious and busy at these young ages.

Yes, I hope you are right. They are both discovering the world, and what it has to offer..kind of like toddlers.

@snowy22315 Yes exactly! There's so much new and interesting stuff in this world that they have to explore! Lol. =)

I've only had one cat who was a cuddly lap cat. His name was Ramses and he was a special kitty. He was friendly from the time he was tiny though. Its been many years since I had a cat in my life though.

I only had one who wasn't..and he was initially a barn cat, so she never really sought out people, but was a sweet cat nonetheless.

Perhaps he will come around. He is still a playful little guy.

I hope so..he likes to be in the same room most of the time, but not that approximate.

you were lucky there. Our kitten just wanted to play 24/24. Once a kitten from the neighbor came playing at my place, then later, it came every day and refused to budge. I was so sorry when my husband said, 'enough is enough!' & banned the kitten from our place. (It climbed onto our window ledges & front door (the security door), and begged to be let in. Broke my heart!)

He does spend the majority of his awake time playing..or if not that, squirrel watching or eating. This boy loves to eat!

My cat is always out and rarely playing, so it's normal for me.

Yes, the last cat would make himself comfy though on the recliner while I or someone else lap topped. This one will sit under the chair..while I am watching TV or laptopping. He did sit with friend one day when he was here. I think he might be kind of afraid of me actually.

Cats do have independent spirits unlike dogs.

They do, but most of the ones I have had have been very affectionate. This one..although he is affectionate to a degree..is usually not.

I hope he starts to like me more as time goes on. I haven't had him too long.
