Another 5 days of treadmill time. My distance has been getting farther trying to reach those 10,000 steps. Partially because I slow down to a slow pace at some points, and other times I speed up to a slow jog. I may take it slow today. My sciatica started acting up last night. I'm not sure how I'll do today but I did it yesterday after it started acting up and was fine while walking but pain set in again later. If I take a break I know it will be hard to get back to it so I can't stop. Keeping track of the weeks is helpful.
I've also tackled a bit of writing as someone convinced me to enter a short story contest with one of the stories I wrote in writing group back in November. However, it is less than 700 words (which is flash fiction not a short story) so I have to figure out what I can add to it.
And just realized today that this past Tuesday was the 13th anniversary of my father's death. I guess I've had so many things on my plate with Lent and writing group stuff that the day just passed me by without a thought. Miss you Dad.
Now... time to hit the treadmill.

I hope your sciatica won't flare up this time...
I am going to make this quick as I have just been told to get ready to leave for dinner.
Is the sciatica from the sciatic nerve in the lower back?
I'll get back to you on what else I was going to say when I return.

@patgalca Yes, that's what I was thinking. A friend of mine showed me a way to stretch once. I believe you are supposed to relax your muscles and lean your upper body towards your toes, basically go limp and allow that nerve to loosen. I'm not sure how it would work for someone who constantly has troubles with it. It worked for me when I had some pain associated with it.
I hope you enjoy those writing contests. Are they local (as in the local papers) or are they something you've found online?
Also, I'm sorry to hear of your father's passing. It's always difficult when that time of year comes around.

@ScribbledAdNauseum I usually sit on my roller; thought about it but didn't do it. I think it may be better now.
Alice Munro is a Canadian short story writer. There is a contest in her name every year. Local contests are easier as there aren't as many entries.
I'll always miss my Dad. Only person who loved me without judging me, always supported me.

Sciatica is painful. I would be having a massage everyday for that. You are just busy. My mother has passed away 11 years ago this coming Monday. My siblings and I will be having a Memorial Day for her and have a get together in my house after visiting the cemetery.

My husband's insurance company covers $500 a year in massages which averages to about one every two months. I'm probably due for one. But thankfully, I believe my sciatica has stopped nagging me. Got pain in other places now.
My family doesn't really acknowledge the anniversary of passings. I think about and talk to my Dad all the time and if I'm lucky he will "visit" me.

I wish I had a treadmill. It might help me work on my steps.

The important thing is the discipline of that treadmill every day.
