The Vatican City is the Holy See, the residence of the Pope, of the head of the Catholic Church. It is also the smallest state.
While leaders of nations are given special treatments and privileges, Pope Francis has, time and again, expressed by example, his wish not to be treated royally.
Thus, he dwells in a humble room.
The post by Mark G, Manning appeared on facebook, showing Pope Francis wearing an ordinary priest's cassock instead of the Papal white garment.
Why?
Night time, Pope Francis roams the streets of Rome to feed the hungry and tend to the homeless.
This is the Apostle.

Great successors of Peter. I think John Paul was from Pope John XXIII (a night walker, too, thus the Johnny, Johnny Walker limerick) and Pope Paul VI.
I hold Catholicism as my greatest blessing.

@JWMILLER yup. Many were born to other protestant sects. Please check on the Church our Lord Jesus started, Considering the strange events occurring everywhere in the world, about time we become one flock under One Shepherd.

Amazing and very admirable a far cry from Popes during the Middle ages that waged war and interfered with state affairs of other nations

I grew up in the age of Pope John Paul II and I was amazed with lonely life that led to the Papacy. Of course, he was partner in crime with our own Cardinal who welcomed visitors in the House of Sin.
Such was our St. John Paul.
Then came Benedict XVI and he calmed our ?Christendom.
Now, in the age of Francis, we are ushered back to our apostolic tasks of preaching and tending the sheep. I really love Pope Francis.

@JWMILLER Two reasons I can come up right now. One, love of money is a human failing, Two, it was inevitable that the Church gets infiltrated by sinister creatures posing as men of God.
Do you know that Spain threw their robbers and other criminals in our islands centuries back, These criminals posted as priests and charmed their way to our way of life.

Our Pope Francis loves praying for every one. I was also incapacitated when he came to visit my country. Watch him on television, from the moment his plane touched down to the moment his plane took off. I know he said a prayer for me .
As I always do for him, in my morning prayers.

@JWMILLER Catholicism is the only Church our Lord Jesus Christ built. Pope Francis now holds the Papacy from Simon Peter, the Rock from whom our Lord built the Church.
It is a Church Doctrine that outside the Church, there is no salvation. Please do not get angry with me, just a gentle reminder, as Jesus our Lord wants all the flock accounted for.

@eileenleyva We are not Catholic, but have great respect for him. I did see Pope John Paul II five times beginning in the 1980's and ending in the 2000's.
