Good Samaritans were working near the Sindi water barrier in Estonia when they saw what appeared to be a dog that was struggling in a frozen river. The three construction workers were able to clear the ice so the dog could swim 320 feet to the shore. The construction workers were able to take the dog to their auto to have the animal overcome the experience of near death by freezing by getting warm which was one reason that the animal did not show any anger toward them. When the workers called the animal control what to do about the dog they had rescued, they were told to take to a local animal shelter that is run by the Estonian Union for the Protection of Animals (EUPA) which is their version of our ASPCA. When the workers took what they thought was a dog to the animal shelter, they were shocked to learn that the dog was really a one year old wolf. Thanks to the care of the wolf while he was recovering at the animal shelter inside of a cage for his own protection as well as the employees, the wolf recovered from his near death experience. The wolf was placed with a tracking device by the EUPA and the Environmental Agency to follow the progress of where the wolf went when he was released into the wild where he is happy to be with his wolf buddies once again.

I wonder if he will retain a slight affinity for humans.

It could happen since I am sure that wolves will remember the good deeds of his rescuers.

They also track the wolves here, just to know that they do not cause problems to the sheep and lambs.

@Deepizzaguy The wolves are protected, but they want to be sure that they are not a nuisance for the farmers.

That is a good idea to make sure wolves do not harm the sheep and lambs.

That is a wonderful and amazing story and I am glad that the wolf will be fine. I just love wolves.

I believe that dogs are related to wolves in the animal family chain.

That is true since wolves can make mean dogs look like angels by comparison.
