Remember the Barbie doll created in 1959? Very popular in it's day. In 2010 a Barbie was created to raise money for cancer research. It was dressed in a strapless black dress and had a necklace made of one real pink diamond which was surrounded by square cut white baguette diamonds. This special Barbie was sold at auction for $302,500.

I got three hundred dollars for my original Barbie doll on ebay, Than I sold all of the clothes for one hundred. I also got three hundred for Ken and another hundred for his clothes. The same person bought all of them.

I was always jealous as during my younger years, there were only blonde and tall Barbie dolls. My hair is black and I am 5 feet 1 inch tall.

Some people get quite fanatical about their Barbies.

I guess it's a collector's item. Was there only one? Definitely not for playing, but just to keep and display in a glass case, or something. :P Having said that, I wasn't much of a Barbie doll kid. I had only one - an astronaut Barbie - and I don't think I ever played with it much. It mostly just stayed in its box except for rare occasions. :)

Obviously, a collector doll however even if I had the money I would not buy that doll. I would donate money for research but not spend so much on a Barbie.

Talk about paying a pretty penny for a Barbie doll.
