Reading II: Public Libraries

How are libraries in your part of the world?
When I was in school, there was no problem. My elementary and high school had a nice library. My university had a huge library. But outside of school?
I think there may be a number of good public libraries in Metro Manila. But in my city?
To be fair, I visited my city's public library to see it for myself.
The picture in part 1 (yesterday) shows part (two walls or half) of the main room where most of the books are. (I have two more pictures of that room which I'll attach to later parts of this series - watch out for parts 4 & 5. ;) ) It's... maybe 3-4 by 5-6 meters? Outside the door is a landing area with a shelf of books. Across the landing is another room which is more like an office with a couch, and another shelf of books. Downstairs, in the entrance hall, is the picture attached here. And more books under the stairs, it seems.
Perhaps the staff will know where the books you'll need are. Most of them weren't around when I came by, though, because apparently, they were in a meeting. But there was one staff there who was very nice and answered my questions while he was dusting and sorting more books on the landing. :)
While there are a few books I saw that I would want to check out the next time I go there (it's a good thing they moved a little closer to where I live), a lot of the (text)books seem like old, probably obsolete editions.
I'm not sure exactly when they moved (I was told it wasn't too recent), but as you can see in the picture, books tied in bundles don't really scream 'Read me!' to me. :P
Also, books can't be borrowed from this library. I can only read them there, though I was told I can take pictures...
Anyway, I think I can still find some use for this library. :P But it's certainly far from ideal.
Part 3 tomorrow. :)
Update?
None. I haven't been able to go back to this library since then.

I love libraries but have not been able to find one near me here in Florida. I will explore more of my territory and see if I can locate the library.

Ikr! I'm not really sure how many people go there or how often people use the service because it's not exactly inviting.
I have seen the log book, though (when I signed in), and yes, there were others signed there. Most are students from nearby public schools. Makes me wonder if their school doesn't have their own libraries, and if using the above library helped them at all.
In any case, I don't even know to what extent the government funds public libraries. Maybe they provide the place, but I believe the books are mostly just donated.

You mean kids, nowadays?
I still hope so. I shouldn't think too lowly of them...
. Hehehe.
Kids who go to schools that have libraries should know them. Techy kids, hopefully, have seen (and use) online ones. I think there are still lots of kids who love books.

We have an excellent public library system here. Our county library is connected to many of the other libraries in the area multiplying the number of titles available. We also have audio book, movies, Braille books and other resources available as well.

I wonder why they tie the books, Like that it is harder to get a book out. Here in Gozo, Malta, there was on only 1 public library and then each village had a small library in the school, which was only open for the students and only at break time. Now each village has a public library, but the main big library is still in the capital.

That would be a dream...
