Beautiful Bernadette

I have to thank France for the many spectacular stories that have topped my favorite list: Les Miserables, Count of Monte Cristo, the Musketeers, to name three. These are fiction, by the way.
Yet now, here's a true story that has captured the world, the story of a self-sacrificing young lady who endured suffering to bring healing to those who need it.
Her name is Bernadette Soubirous of Lourdes. Here's her story.
The song of Bernadette is one of my favourite films and i would like to share it in the best quality i could provide. Thanks.. Darren :)

It is a long documentary, I bookmark it to watch it later, but is it about Lourdes or Fatima, which is in Portugal ?
The first time I went to Lourdes, I was 7, and I have been instantly cured of a stuttering I had, so it is a special place for me. I went there two years ago after I recovered from a stroke to thank for my recovery, and I started a discussion about the miracles in Lourdes. I give you the link.
The sanctuary of Lourdes receives every year 5 to 6 millions of visitors. It is a huge number. Since 1858, the Catholic church has recognized only 69 miracles...

@eileenleyva Thank you to have read it. I dislike the business made on pilgrims by the locals and do not go there often, but I have a true affection/gratitude for Our Lady of Lourdes

@eileenleyva There are not only shops for pilgrims and tourists in Lourdes, even the city puts a tax for every night spent in a hotel/rented room
.
I am having a look at the Baguio grotto. OMG ! it is like Fourvières, there are hundreds of steps to reach the grotto (but in Fourvières, there is a funicular train to reach the top that I took

I was taken by her beauty.
When I checked out an image of her incorrupt body, she is even more beautiful.

@lovinangelsinstead21 I love your terminology - perpetual state.
I couldn't fathom how could that be possible, from dust we are, to dust we will return, and yet Bernadette, she lies in perpetual state.

She is a very beautiful woman in the image and it must be the pure love that keeps her body in that perpetual state.

I know of Bernadette. I learned this as a young child in school. I wish I could go to Lourdes also.

Put it in your bucket list.
This day and age, pilgrimages have been made easy. Lots of tour packages , with all sorts of discounts.
With Filipinos, all one has to do is gather a group and your ticket is free.

@eileenleyva Yes there is no possibility of doing so here for me in my life with the responsibilities I have. But I accept that what God has given me Eileen.

@TiarasOceanView At the moment, I am restricted from being a pilgrim, too. Responsibilities and duty come first.
This is the moment I must write Hope Springs Eternal. One day, you will get there, I will get there, too.

Love the story of saint Bernadette. Our lady of Lourdes is very special to me. I pray the healing novena when needed. I also keep the Lourdes prayer book close by. It gives me comfort esp when I read the day by day accounts of the apparition.

@almostoveryou My classmate had been some sort of an angel to me. During the strong storms, especially when I was in college, I would ask her to keep me safe. The rains and the floods were scary, especially during the nights when jeepneys and buses are full. I always did get a ride and never soaked.
Found this on the net:
Oh ever immaculate Virgin, Mother of Mercy, Health of the Sick, Refuge of Sinners, Comfortess of the Afflicted, you know my wants, my troubles, my sufferings. Look upon me with mercy. When you ...

@eileenleyva sorry to know about your classmate. i have in my possession a copy of the Lourdes prayer book. it's published in the U.S. but i suppose there would be similar publications containing the prayers and novena to Our Lady.
we also have her in our backyard grotto. :)
