Day 3 1 Corinthians 3 1 Corinthians 3:1 And I, brethren, could not speak unto you as unto spiritual, but as unto carnal, even as unto babes in Christ. 2 I have fed you with milk, and not with meat: for hitherto ye were not able to bear it, neither yet now are ye able. 3 For ye are yet carnal: for whereas there is among you envying, and strife, and divisions, are ye not carnal, and walk as men? 4 For while one says, I am of Paul; and another, I am of Apollos; are ye not carnal? 5 Who then is Paul, and who is Apollos, but ministers by whom ye believed, even as the Lord gave to every man? 6 I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase. 7 So then neither is he that plants anything, neither he that waters; but God that gives the increase. 8 Now he that plants and he that waters are one: and every man shall receive his own reward according to his own labor. 9 For we are laborers together with God: ye are God’s husbandry, ye are God’s building. 10 According to the grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise master builder, I have laid the foundation, and another builds thereon. But let every man take heed how he builds thereupon. 11 For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ. 12 Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble; 13 Every man’s work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man’s work of what sort it is. 14 If any man’s work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward. 15 If any man’s work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire. 16 Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwells in you? 17 If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are. 18 Let no man deceive himself. If any man among you seems to be wise in this world, let him become a fool, that he may be wise. 19 For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, He takes the wise in their own craftiness. 20 And again, The Lord knows the thoughts of the wise, that they are vain. 21 Therefore let no man glory in men. For all things are yours; 22 Whether Paul, or Apollos, or Cephas, or the world, or life, or death, or things present, or things to come; all are yours; 23 And ye are Christ’s; and Christ is God’s. Division is everywhere in the world. You can’t get away from it. It’s prevalent in the workplace, job market, politics, sports, families, and the church. You’re divided on ideas, theories, and facts. Everything divides if you let it. Paul addressed division when he wrote to the church in Corinth about what and how they believed, citing even those people they professed to follow. However, he said, Christ is not divided, and they needed to look at Jesus not people in how to handle their lives. As Christians, you too are divided along denominational lines. You have beliefs and rituals handed down since the church began. One denomination cannot agree with another. Paul told the people he couldn’t give the people the meat of the Word because they were still babes in Christ. How do you mature and get past denominational differences? You study the Word of God. You read what God said to His people. Don’t put your spin on God’s Word, but read what it says. When God said something, it was a fact, not a possibility or a theory, but fact. God spoke and created the world from nothing. Fact. God promised Adam and Eve a Savior. Not only did He promise a Savior to our first parents, He made that same promise to the prophets. As you study you will see all the instances of prophecy proclaiming the birth, death, and resurrection of Jesus in detail. Fact. God doesn’t lie. Fact. God sent His Son, Jesus, to be your Savior. He was born in a manger, lived and ministered throughout Judea, was convicted by the Sanhedrin and put to death by crucifixion by Pontius Pilate, and rose three days later for your salvation. Fact. Jesus promised all believers the indwelling Holy Spirit to bring to mind those things you read and study in God’s Word. Fact. If you are a believer in Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit lives and dwells in you, and you have the power in you to defeat your enemy Satan. Fact. This is what Paul told the church at Corinth. There is no place for division in the church. You are all one in Jesus Christ if you believe in Jesus as your Savior and Lord. 2 Timothy 2:15 Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. When you study God’s Word, you will break down denominational walls because you will see God’s love for you and His promises for you on every page. You will understand Jesus’ mission, what He came to do, what He accomplished, and His promise to return for His church. However, the church isn’t ready for Jesus’ return as long as there is division. Get ready. Crack open the Bible you have sitting on your shelf. Read what God says to you. Claim every promise as yours, and stand on God’s Word never wavering from the truth, God’s truth, His Word. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ahHWtvOmt2E Let’s pray: Father, help me stand on Your Word. Let Your Word sink into my heart and give me the power I need to defeat my enemy, Satan. Let me stand on Your promises and claim them for my life. Help me break down denominational walls. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen. Copyright © 16 March 2019 by Valerie Routhieaux Image courtesy of Pixabay
