Poem Crazy Like A What

Crazy Like A What?
Who do you think you are calling crazy?
I was smart enough to catch your chickens.
Clever, crafty, cunning, cruel, but not lazy,
Mad, insane, or cuckoo. What the dickens
Possessed you to question my reason, Sir?
I caught your runaway Gingerbread Man,
Aesop put me in his Fables; hunters spur
Themselves to chase me with dogs rather than
Something more edible and call me nuts.
Look at the mess you’ve made of our planet
Your guns might reduce me to blood and guts
But that doesn’t make me loopy, damn it.
The pollution of my woods makes me sad.
You’re the one that’s barking. Don’t call me mad!
