I Surrender

As much as I love winter, I need to give way to spring. Especially since I saw with my own eyes, the embodiment of spring flying around the parking lot this morning as I waited for my ride. The robin is back. I also saw a couple of geese, so they're back too, and a couple of mourning doves.
The snow is almost gone. The flood waters have receded, but there's still flooding near the East River, which is close to where I live.
We're only in the 30s today, but it's supposed to get up into the 50s by the end of the week. Like it or not, spring will be here before we know it. Only three days.
Now, if you were to ask me what's happening in three days, I wouldn't tell you spring, but I would tell you it's my grandson's 27th birthday. That little guy in the picture turns 27 on the first day of spring.
If the sun keeps shining like it is, there won't be a patch of snow anywhere. About the only snow left are the banks along curbs and the large snowbanks from snowplows in parking lots.
So, I surrender. The winter countdown begins again in three days. I know a lot of people are more than ready to say goodbye to this winter. It's been a rough one for a lot of people. Rough here too with the flooding last week. However, this is this kind of winter I grew up with. Not the rapid melting, but the nice slow gradual melting through spring to the last day of school when it was finally all gone for another five months. Yes, we usually saw the end of the snow by the second or third week of May.
Now, I'm not discounting the last snowstorm of the year as we usually get at least one good storm in April. We did have a blizzard last April that gave us two feet of snow in three days. It was totally awesome. So, though Spring is three days away, winter will have its last hurrah.
Is spring making a showing where you live? Thanks for reading. Image courtesy of Pixabay.

We just returned from Florida and must say, warm weather is our choice.
Winter is great for some people, but not for me.
Our yard is filled with lovely flowers that let us know it will be warming up a little more each day now.
One year we had a blizzard in May in the Highland area of NC. What a surprise that was. Don't want to see that again! (think it was 1992)

Warm weather is the choice of many people. If it wouldn't get over 75 it would be great. Heat and I don't get along.
That must have been a surprise.

Green sprouting leaves very small sprouts but they are already all over the trees here.
Blossom is fading very quickly this time with the very cold and very high winds we have had up to now.
Lovely bird in the image too.

It happened last year also really so when they go on and on about this weather being different its not really that different from last year at all the temps were way above average on the coastlines too not so good for this very fragile country.

@lovinangelsinstead21 It would be nice to see the weather return to normal, but I think those days are over. We had a harsh winter. It's been a long time since I've seen a winter like it.

Never knew geese were a sign of spring. Weve had a whole bunch of them, around 15-20, out back at the driving range every day for about a month.
Winter is so disappointing here now. Hurts. Lol

That's a lot of birds. I did see one I'm unfamiliar with, but I'm not a bird person, so other than the ones in the picture and some obvious ones like the cardinal and bluebird, also hummingbird, I don't know birds. And seagulls. I do know them. I should be hearing them too soon.

Mother Nature where we are at the moment, has at least given us some sunshine... the wind over the earlier days of our arrival I wasn't impressed with but maybe she is just telling us that we are going to have an Awesome spring when it does arrive!! I'm getting curious to see what we will find in a few hours!!

I wonder what we have to look forward to with winter as it was. If it's any indication of summer, it's going to be hot and wet.

Happy Spring. Hopefully, those snowflakes didn't last, as I know you don't like them, especially now that Spring has arrived, almost. 4:58 PM CST.

Why does it feel winter will never end? It does and as the birds like in the picture sing we can count on it.

@just4him Yes it is hopeful. I know I'll be happy to see a new season though I do like a changing season whatever it brings. Sure I'll see smiles too.
