Do You Know "Denali"?

For centuries the Koyukon people who populate the area in south central Alaska have called the peak "Denali". A gold prospector named it "Mount McKinley" in support of the president candidate at that time William McKinley in 1896. The peak is 20,310 foot above sea level and was known by the name of Mount McKinley from 1917 to 2015 when the government changed the name to Denali. It is the tallest mountain in North America. When you mentioned the other name I remember them changing it.

I was in the vicinity once..it was shrouded in the clouds, as it usually is. I didn't really get a good look at it.
