Today and Reading.

Well today has been about.. nothing in particular. It's been a good day. It's been a boring day, or what some might think. You know, doing the domestic stuff. I've been reading The Paying Guests by Sarah Waters. I've been told by some that the book is rather long before it starts getting to the "good stuff". While I don't necessarily agree, I don't necessarily disagree either. It seems like the author droned on and on about the relationship between the lodger and the land lady, but then I didn't mind that. Now though, It seems as if it might be getting more interesting. I am 290 pages in to a 526 page book. I don't know exactly what's going to happen. I hope I won't be disappointed. I also watched an episode of The Frankenstein Chronicles on netflix. The beginning reminded me of something I've seen before but I couldn't place it. Has anyone else watched this? What about the book? Has anyone read it?

I have been hesitant to pick up a book larger than 300 pages (more or less), but I think my next will be one of the bigger books I have on my TBR shelves.

@ScribbledAdNauseum I like to try and read before I go to bed... just haven't been able to do that these last couple of weeks.

@patgalca I don't often read before bed, mainly because I wouldn't be able to stop reading.

They can seem a daunting task. As long as you try to read a few minutes a day, it should go by faster than you might imagine. I was saying "okay I'll read 40 pages today", and it ended up where I began reading more and more per day. I know that there are always obligations but I think reading is the best therapy.

I am unfamiliar with the Frankenstein Chronicles. Currently, I am listening to The People of the Book by Geraldine Brooks (very good) and reading Emily of New Moon by Lucy Maud Montgomery.

I just don't take to listening to books anymore. I used to do that but it doesn't seem to "sink in' as much. I don't get as wrapped into the story. I've heard of Geraldine Brooks I believe.

@ScribbledAdNauseum I spend a lot of time driving and a lot of time sewing (and, in the past week, doing yardwork) I enjoy having a book to listen to during those activities.

@SophiaMorros That's understandable. I mean, when I walk I will sometimes listen to a podcast of Sherlock Holmes stories. Mainly because I can listen to a whole of those and not get tired. One whole episode encompasses the length of time I usually walk anyway.

I didn't know FC was availabe on Netflix. I watched an episode of American Horror Story on there last night. I quite before it got to the really ghoulish stuff though. I almost never get nightmares from watching that type of stuff at night, but why tempt the fates? I haven't heard of the book. I got another kindle sample last night, another Ani Taylor book, the Game She Played I think is the name of it, I will decide whether I want to read that or the other one I started.

Yep, FC is available on netflix. I really like it, I think I'll watch more of it this weekend but I also want to push to finish the rest of my book. I don't often get the samples of books mainly because it usually makes me want to buy them. Of course this is a year off of kindle for me, and so that's another good reason to not do any kindle samples at the moment. AHS is creepy and weird but personally, I don't think it's nightmare inducing. I've had to quit listening to creepypastas on youtube at night, those would make me afraid to fall asleep.

I think to remember The Frankenstein Chronicles, I saw the episodes many years ago on the French TV. I think it's a British series.

Yes, I'm not sure if it's affiliated with the BBC, I can't remember. I like it though. Or atleast, so far.

I haven't seen that show. Right now I'm reading BirdBox by Josh Malerman. I have seen the movie on Netflix.

I haven't watched the movie, nor have I read the book. I'd be more likely to read the book.

Never heard of either the book or the movie. But I do like longer novels as long as they keep my interest. Enjoy.

It's actually a series, no a movie. I heard about the book in one of the facebook groups and decided to get it it. I think I paid $4.00 for it, so not bad.
