Going back to Chemistry lessons...

Chemistry and Biology were my two favorite subjects besides Language ( nothing could beat my love for Hindi and English literature) during my High School days. Now my daughter is in Class 10. She had some doubts in Chemistry. She asked for help. Well I asked her to give me her textbook so that I could go through it and refresh things. It has been more than two decades since I passed my High School. I spent one dedicated hour to go through the textbook and refresh my concept. I found myself falling in love for the subject again. We had a good two hours session which just got over. I am glad that she enjoyed it and now she is really confident for tomorrow's class test. It was fun to solve those balancing equations. Even hubby dear joined for some time to refresh his memory. We had real fun as a family solving those chemical equations. Now she is tired and gone to bed. I will mylot for some time and then hit the pillow. Do you enjoy going back to your school lessons while helping your children or someone else??

That's great. I like science too. I like it because we can always learn more or something new.

@arunima25 I would think bio-tech would open a person's eyes to how things work.

I loved History. Science was something I pursued further and later did Masters in Biotechnology. My daughter likes Geography but is petrified of History.

If you could be guide to your children, there is nothing like it. The way you would explain and would make them understand any subject, none would be able to do so. It is always interesting to go back to memory lane and check, what we used to study during our time and what has changed since then. Organic Chemistry, though I have studied Chemistry, was not my favorite subject.

Yes it is good. I am in to education line and I mainly teach special children. So I am creative with my style of teaching. SO far when it comes to my students I have not taught anyone above Grade7. Next year I have to get ready for Grade 8 as two of my students will be there and now I have to plan my lessons as per their need. They are already 17 but still at Grade 7.

My children never needed our help. They were both brilliant and had genius IQs like their father. I'm no slouch either.

Good! We have passed on our genius genes too but ours is too easy to go in slumber. SO we need to agitate them every now and then.

I love Maths. Though my elder one does not need me any more with Maths, I do it with my younger daughter who is in Middle school.

@db20747 Same experience I had with Economics. The teacher was pretty good but I was bad with it at that time.

I am a wonderful teacher and I have often go that compliment from students as well as parents. And being a special educator I have immense patience too and I get creative too. How was your Chemistry teacher in school?

Yes it was fun. I was a little hesitant as I had not read it since a long time and had forgotten most of it. But reading the book helped me recollect them.

Yes our interests can vary. Not all need to love Chemistry. My mom hated Science and she could never help us. My elder brother was there to help me.
