Homophones are fun to write. I'm rapt with bright ideas for the day. Here's some rapped up satire in a limerick.
***
There is a raft named Dufus
He thinks he’s Lucas
He wrapped himself with moss
Rapped away some dross
Lost Dufus, thinks he’s Lucas, sails main stream in raucous.

Wish me luck for my 2nd Term teaching of these damnable things. Gotta have fun with them in limerick poetry at the same time.

@everwonderwhy I didn't even know what they were called until I got into the editing program I worked with in editing my novel.

Thank you. You rapped up words like music to me. I have help from my well-worn thesaurus and dictionary. Writing and learning homonyms, homophones and homographs in limerick poetry is our homeschool Term 2 part of our curriculum. I'm practicing now.

Like @Corbin5 said, I feel for anyone having to learn our language. This reminds me of an I Love Lucy episode where she was pregnant and wanted her baby to learn proper English. Ricky was reading a childrens book and there were words like bough, tough, rough and words like that where they all have the 'ough' but may be pronounced differently.

Indeed, word crimes are offensive to the grammar police.

I know! I had a hard time characterizing my personified Raft. But I had fun introducing myself to him, too. :-D

A really good thesaurus and dictionary app is very helpful in my crazy days with homophones/homonyms/homographs. I'm honestly lost without it.
