Diary 29th March To 1st April 2019

Diary Friday 29th March 2019 I did some shopping and found to my surprise on checking my bank balance that my welfare payment had gone in 48 hours ahead of schedule (usually it goes n on the last day of the month). I never tapped into it, but good to know it is there, my last full payment before my convention trip to London, enabling me to budget for the trip now. Diary Saturday 30th March and Sunday 31st March 2019 Two days in, catching up on my writings, contacting various media folk and web sites about my book launch ready for mid-April, and watching lots of TV. Saddened on phoning my Mum to find that the Mother’s Day Card I sent her in plenty of time failed to arrive at the house. The clocks changed in the early hours of the morning so I had to move several clock times forward an hour. Diary Monday 1st April 2019 First day of a new month, and April Fool’s Day, (some might call it my second birthday). It marks the start of the new tax year and many bills go up at this time. I had a few bills to pay, got some food in for the month, got some photos of a newly opened pub, Baker Street (no real pub sign sadly but nice to know we have a fresh bar). I then went to the community centre to do some job searching, and came home. PS - My Mum phoned to tell me her card finally arrived today, 24 hours late. At least she got it. Arthur Chappell

So you have Mother's Day in April in the UK? Mother's Day is the second Sunday in May here in Canada and the U.S.

Here in the UK, Mothering Sunday {its original name} is the fourth Sunday in Lent. The actual date changes each year. The history of it goes back a few centuries.

I am so sorry the card did not reach your mother in time. I hate this change of hour, I feel tired all the day. I will get the habit, I hope.

Now my Mother's Day card was posted on the Monday before and she got it on the Tuesday. One day for second class! The post is a trifle erratic.

@arthurchappell I've never really felt it was worth paying the extra for 1st class.

@egdcltd When I worked at the post office we just treated first and second class mail the same so a lot of second class post went through quicker

Glad your mum's card finally arrived. The Royal Mail is odd ... I posted a card to Mumma for her birthday at the beginning of March. It had a second class stamp on it and would have been picked up from the postbox in the early evening ... she received it the very next day.

@Poppylicious it can be very hard to gauge when it is best to post stuff out

That's shame about the card but these things happen I guess.
