Yet again my latest non stick frying pan has become an everything stick to it frying pan. In my 35 years or so I have bought the best of pans, ceramic ones, a copper one, iron ones, you name it I bought it. I always use as recommended and only use plastic utensils and not high heat and I never wash them with anything that could damage them but after a little while they all have lost their non stickness. Am I doing something wrong. Is there such thing as a non stick pan.

@teenal They say no butter or oil is needed, but I use oil for flavor.

I can't have non-stick cookware in the house b/c I own a parrot. I used a non-stick skillet to cook eggs last November when we rented a condo in Mexico and it was AMAZING! I had forgotten how awesome non-stick stuff could be.

@teenal When they are heated up, the PTFE (nonstick coating) emits poisonous gases that can kill birds. It doesn't sound like such great stuff to be cooking our food in.

Some pans need to be seasoned to keep the food from sticking.

When I've grated my non stick pans with respect they have lasted for quite a long time with no problems.....abuse though, ends their usefulness very quickly.

The nonstick pans really aren’t all that great, I have them and they are always sticking, going to be getting Cast Iron ASAP!

They have a life span, they do not last forever no matter what care, my mother was fond of them and had several. Remember the non-stick element is only Teflon, same stuff used in plumbing pipe treads, heat would gradually break it down. Good expensive brands have thicker layera so they last longer but just the same they would eventually deteriorate..
