Fool On the Hill

Welcome to April and Happy April Fool’s Day. I just had to add a song about that fool on the hill that The Beatles always sang about. Our family always had two birthdays to celebrate in April my grandma’s on April 5 and my dad’s on April 23. Then there was Easter when it came in April like this year and the month was a happy one. Another way April is important to me is that it is National Poetry Writers Month and I always register my blog on Nothing But Poetry on Wordpress so I have to come up with 30 poems in 30 days for NaPoWriMo. That always keeps me on my toes all month long April Fool’s Day has long been associated with the day when in many different countries people play practical jokes on one another. There are people who like to play jokes on others on this day and those who just ignore it accepting April 1 as just the beginning of another month. I am happy with this April because it came on a Monday and I would like it if every month could begin like this but I know that is not possible. My grandma had a saying every April Fool’s Day that loosely translated was – April, April the cat ate your glasses but it kind of rhymes in Latvian so I guess Latvians have also accepted this as the day when jokes are played. I just never took it much to mind except as a child when everyone likes to play a joke on those least suspecting. I had two cats here today fooling each other. When Sid came in and saw Oreo eating from his bowl I had to quickly make a change. I put Oreo on the table in the next room with a small bowl of some dry food and put more food into Sid’s bowl in the kitchen. Then both of them were content to be having some food and I had fooled them both into thinking that each of them was special but in fact they both are. Here cats rule.
