This is an old barn that sits on the property behind my house. It was once a part of the original homestead here. This whole corner and way back into what is now woods belonged to the McGeehee family. They built their home in 1860 and raised cattle and also had a nice garden. They also had dairy cattle and a dairy shed is also still standing.
The barn is huge, it goes way back which you cannot see in the photo. It must have been a very fine barn in the late 1800's or 1900's. I'm not sure when it was built. It is now falling down in places with rotten building material but other areas are standing strong. The owner of the land cut down a lot of trees last year and I was concerned that he may take the barn down also. He didn't and that made me happy!
Do you have any old buildings near where you live? Are they still in use?

No, we don't have any old buildings near us. The closest is about a mile; and it's a dilapidated old farm house.

@LindaOHio No plaque. There are so many rules and regs to do the historical listings. One is modifications to the house. We had to add heat. It's cold enough with it, but with none it gets cold. No insulation, the house is built of cedar and designed for air flow.

I love taking pictures of old buildings, both when they're in use and when they're abandoned! That's a very charming barn :-)
There's quite a few old tree houses in town, most of them are still in use. Some renovated, some the owners neglect and hope they will become so ruined that they have to tear them down and can build something bigger

Yes, we are very much in the country. We bought this house as a weekend getaway-from-the-city about 10 years ago and it is now home since our house in Louisiana flooded in 2016. We both love it here. It's quiet, not much traffic and the little town is less than 10 mines away. The people here are very nice too!
