Hercules liked backpackers too

As I look through photos of our couch surfers who have stayed with us, I’m reminded of more and more of them and their stories. As you can imagine, they were over the moon with being able to see and photograph the kangaroos that frequent our place. But dear old Hercules also came in for his share of love and attention. The girl on the left was an air traffic controller at Changi Airport in Singapore and the youngest they’d ever had. She’d also written a thriller but hadn’t managed to find a publisher for it. The lass on the right was from Finland but I can’t remember her profession. Quite a few had interrupted their university studies to travel. I think Hercules had a soft spot for blondes, don’t you?

They turn up looking so 'ordinary' then have these fantastically interesting careers!

Herc looks like he's pretty happy in both pictures, but I do agree with you, he does seem to be a little closer with the blonde. I do miss hearing about his antics and seeing his photos.

@JudyEv It is really sad, people (like me) loved him too. He was too cool for words.

@Juliaacv Have you seen Hercules looking 'cool' in his Christmas hat? I don't think he really appreciated it though.

It looks like he did! My friends had a pet sheep..they raised from a lamb. When he got big, he was always head butting people. I think he got sent to a farm.

Too many people tease pet lambs then wonder why the sheep continues with the behaviour once they're grown - I mean the sheep are grown, not necessarily the people. You do need to castrate boy lambs as most rams get a bit unpredictable and aggressive.

@cacay1 Hercules is part of the Roman mythology, Heracles is the Greek counterpart. He was half humand and half God. We studied the famous 12 Labours of Hercules.

I need to find out more about this couch surfer group you belong to. How do I get pretty girls like that to come stay at my place? haha

@JudyEv I'm dating a younger girl, and I don't think a week goes by that I don't get hit on by college-aged girls. It seems so many of them are looking for older, mature and secure men. Which completely baffles me, because I am an unstable, crazy and immature man! haha

Well..... first of all, your partner would need to be okay with it. And if you're old enough (and you probably are) the young girls will think you're too old to be a threat. So go for it!

I think this is an extra "income" to the Airbnb owner. Besides money, it is a good chance for you to know more new friends all over the world. This is quite interesting.

We don't receive money from couch-surfers. Airbnb is a bit different. And we do get to meet a lot of people.

What sweet photos. I'd love to photograph kangaroos someday. I hear so many scary stories about Australia's critters being dangerous like chasing spiders and snakes. I really need to do my own homework.

We have fewer dangerous big animals than the US - no bears, cougars, coyotes, elk, moose. So come on over. You'll be fine.

That girl on the left is too young to be an air traffic controller but I admire her for having reached that level of work. Your guests are both good-looking girls and Hercules must be thinking so :)
