Surfing couches in Singapore

Although we hosted a lot of couch-surfers, we didn’t ‘surf many couches’ ourselves. There were various reasons. Many young hosts could only offer a couch or somewhere to lay your sleeping bag. Some could only take one person. When we went to Singapore, hosts were generous in offering accommodation but we would have had to share separate rooms with other family members. So Vince would have slept with the menfolk and myself with the women. However one young man suggested a range of accommodation options that he had personally researched and another met us for coffee and to take us on a walking tour. This extended to a ring-around (on their mobiles) and a group of 10 ‘league of nations’ people met with us for a street-side meal. Karma came good by the bucketful when we went to Bavaria but I’ll keep that for the next post. The photo is one of the many lovely sculptures that can be found in Singapore.

i hope mylotbugs fixes the photo glitch soon, but am quite doubtful since it's the weekend. so what kind of accommodations did you end up with?

I've been thinking about checking out the couch-surfing websites. Do you use one of them or do you have lot of contacts? The 10-nations meeting must have been great :-) I visited my Australian friends when they worked in Singapore, really nice place. I'd love to go back.

We used the website. We were members. We're still members but down as 'unavailable' I think. It's an option you have if you go away or want a rest or whatever.

There have been so many comments about photos not loading I'm sure Bugs knows about it. JJ linked both Bugs and GoAskAlice in a comment this morning. I've been trying on and off all day but I'll try again. I'm sure it will be fixed soon.
