What is 5g

Yesterday I posted the reality check. There are two companies in the world (South Korea's telco and Verizon in the US) that have actually deployed 5g services. Interesting, a couple of people asked me what is 5g? 5g, stands for 5th generation network services. Today most people have 3g or 4g, some have LTE, which 4g advanced or as the US company AT&T calls it 5gw. What it really is for you? It means that on your cell phone you will soon (once 5g arrives in your area) have the same network bandwidth on your cellular device that you have with your ISDN, ADSL, DSL, Cable Model or Fiber connection at home or at work. It means you can be watching a movie (no lag) while still receiving email and so on. It brings the power of the internet closer to you! Based on that, do you think 5g will be something you will want?

I've heard it has adverse health factors and that Brussels has banned it.

It's because of the security reasons, not for the 5g technology, but for the company who is supposed to develop it in Europe.

That is actually not true today. While the spectrum used is lower level, it doesn't cause any adverse health issues.

@mrki444 Huawei was in a war with the US over spyware, not 5g.

Right now Samsung and Motorola have 5g capable handsets. Apple is 12-18 months from having one...

It makes your Kindle a lot more usable. Amazon can simply store all of your books online, with 5g there is no lag when reading them!

Telecom in India has improved a lot and now we enjoy 4g (though not everywhere) and maybe in near future we will taste the 5g too.

I would say you aren't that far behind Korea's Telco!
