To Notify or Not to Notify? That is the Question.

I get that you might want a bell or whistle to go off if you're cooking. But do you really need Notifications when you're working online?
Whenever I visit a website and get that message that says "Can we show you the latest news, updates, promos (or whatever)?", I always click “No Thanks”.
I have tried using Notifications for different things like my eMail or Facebook or a particular website ~ with and without a sound. But I just find Notifications to be more of a distraction and even maybe a disruption to my workflow.
Don't you?
I mean one of the critical elements of organization and time management is to keep your mind "clutter-free".
To me, the Notifications clutter my mind.
I'm not cooking. I'm working!
What about you? Do you use Notifications?
I'm sure they must have a value-add.

Good organizational skills” can refer to physical and mental organization, time management and the ability to effectively multi task and prioritize.

I like notifications in the site, but not in my mailbox

I have learned to not notice them. I tune them out when I'm working. I also have sound off. Then when I'm ready to work on notifications, I do it. No problems at all. I cannot stand the constant pinging though from notifications so I keep my sound off for that main reason.

@cmoneyspinner Yep, you have to more or less train yourself to not look at them and ignore, ignore, ignore until later!

I admit that at first, it was the pinging that drove me nuts. But then I turned off the sound and the pop up in the corner of the screen kept catching my eye and that distracted me too! LOL. In the end, I just turned off the Notifications. I couldn't concentrate. My brain just couldn't take the pressure!
