It's All About Context

My previous discussion was intended to make a point. Of course, a couple of users weren’t quite gullible enough to fall for my version of things. @UncleJoe, @Corbin5, and @paigea all figured out that the sign forbidding painting referred to graffiti. I carefully edited my photo to remove the background. It wasn’t entirely honest but it seems to be the thing to do. Most of the major news outlets only share the details that support their agenda, which is why two different news sources can share the same story but make it look like two entirely different scenarios. Perspective is everything. When you hear of an event, either in the media or in your personal life, do you assume you have been given the whole picture or do you make an effort to dig a little deeper and look for the bigger picture?

I do my own research. I'm not a believer in "fake news" though. I'm so sick of that phrase.

I'm not even sure "fake news" actually means anything anymore. It seems to be the term that everyone throws around for things that don't seem to fit what they believe.

It depends on the topic. I am more likely to do my own research when it comes to political and environmental news. I tend to believe friends and family about personal stuff as well.

I've learned that even with friends and family there tend to be multiple sides to many issues.

@SophiaMorros Oh there is always that one person that you know makes things up, my cousin is that person in my family. I always take what she says with a grain of salt. Even so, I can usually depend on my other relatives to tell the truth, or the truth as they see it...

NO, I never trust the media, it is even too easy to manipulate people simply hiding part of the news.

UI will often research a story before I jump on the bandwagon...but every now and again I get lax and fall for misinformation.

I would assume it is true if it comes from a reliable source. But given that we are not exempt from lying and society is divided into different class with diverging agenda, it would be prudent for us to double check the facts if it directly affect our lives.

I assumed that the painting was referring to graffiti.
