The last time you called a computer helpdesk

did they start troubleshooting your problem on your PC?
Did they then move to your connection?
The hardest thing for most helpdesks to support is the end user. You never know (unless it is a managed PC) what is on that computer.
Out of curiosity, where did they start trying to solve your problem?

@DocAndersen We called twice, at 7 days distance, the person to whom we had spoken did not work there anymore, she seems competent, the one who replied was at his 2nd day in IBM, he knew a lot less than what we knew.

@LadyDuck I used to have to call sometimes years ago when building enterprise systems. I used to hit the tier 1 person and tell them before you ask here are the 10 things I've already done!

I have called AT&T about my internet connection twice. The latest time was because of DNS errors I had. They gave me a new modem which sorta fixed the problem.

I never call computer help. I have in-house geeks. My kids. Funny thing. There used to be a kid at a congregation where I worshipped. Members would always call him for help with their computers. My daughter married him. So even if my kids don't want to help, I can ask my son-in-law.
