Guarantees

Has someone guaranteed you anything? I don't like the word guarantee and don't use it very often. However, my son used that word yesterday when he told me he would guarantee he would fix my car today. He called early yesterday afternoon to tell me he had three cars ahead of me, a dental appointment, and he needed to get to DMV to register the trailer he hauls cars and junk on. Yeah, the car is still in my parking lot. However, I have his guarantee he will fix the car today. I really hope so. It's beginning to feel like I'll never get back to the pool. I hate being dependent on other people to get around. He told me it's not supposed to rain today, though it was in the forecast yesterday. We'll see. It's cloudy out there and I haven't seen the weather forecast yet today. As for my book, it's coming along well. One of the edit remarks yesterday told me something I wasn't expecting. After this edit is finished, comes the content edit. I don't know what that is or what it entails. I can only hope I won't implode over it. My word count with five chapters to go is 134,522. I never thought it would get down that far. It's not finished yet. With that said, I'm going to get started on today's work. Can you rely on guarantees? Thanks for reading.

Doesn't it suck not being able to go to the pool? After my knee surgery, my surgeon told me I had to stay out of the pool for three weeks. It's killing me not being able to get in the water, especially when it's part of my job, but I only have one more week to go. I can't wait to be able to get back in and swim! Let's hope your son really comes through for you today. I've never really put much thought into it, but I've made guarantees to people before. Is a guarantee just short of a promise, or is it better than a promise?

I think it's better than a promise, though both can be broken. He did pick up the car, but it was late. He got to it this morning and I have it back now. I will be in the pool tomorrow. I'm sorry you still have a week to wait before you can get in the pool.

So no car yet, this is so annoying. I hope it's not going to rain so you can have your car today. Good luck.

@LadyDuck I'm glad you're having a nice day. It's still going to be on the cool windy side today. I'm glad the rain is gone. I'm very happy to have a mechanic in the family.

@amadeo Absolutely! I even earned a quarter. I stopped at Aldi. The woman gave me her cart and wouldn't take my quarter. So I earned a quarter when I put the cart back.

I guess it is lucky you have the edits to get on with. It will help take your mind off not having a car. I hope your son will be able to make good his promise.

I am sorry about your car, but I hope that the son will be able to fulfill his guarantee. I never guarantee anything and I do not trust others when they guarantee me.

He got it fixed and it's back in the parking lot. He picked it up late yesterday and fixed it this morning before the rain started. Yes, he's a very busy person. He has a driveway full of cars he is working on.

It depends on the person giving the guarantee. After going through all you have on getting this book published by a publishing company you will know what to expect next time

Guarantees are like promises, so I'd say sometimes, but not always. Depends on the person its coming from.

That was the brake lines. Then the brakes went bad almost as soon as I got it back, four days later. With the weather, I was once again waiting for good days for him to work on it. It's fixed now and I won't have anymore worries with it for a long time to come.

I hope your son gets to work on your car so you can get back into the swing of things. Generally I'm skeptical when someone says they "guarantee" anything.

Would content edit have something to do with PC or deciding something is objectionable according to them?

I really don't know. I'll find out when I get started on it. For now, I'll be reading it before I send it back to her.
