Hey everyone! Happy Tuesday! Hope everyone is having a good day today.
I'm off work, so I'm hanging out with my oldest today while my little one is still at his Nana's after spending the night.
Most of the morning he works on schoolwork (my husband home-schools) but around 11 he takes a break. A lot of mornings he wants to watch youtube or play video games on his break, but today he wanted to color. And he picked his Solar System mobile kit that he Nanna bought him a while back.
He was so excited about it. Every time he colored a planet he would bring it to me, and demonstrate how it's orbit and rotation went.
When he finished coloring I did all the knot tying and then we hung it in his bedroom.
He LOVES science. And is excited about the photos of the black hole that were recently shared. Though he's been obsessed with black holes for a long time.
I think it is great that he is so interested in science and hope he still enjoys it as he grows up.
Do any of the young people in your life show interest in learning more about education subjects on their down time instead of the usual entertainment? If so, what subjects catch their attention?

But he used to go to school, right? If I recall you used to walk him daily.
I love science too, I see the pic of the finished product on FB, its nice.

He went to school for Kindergarten. We did walk most days because the school is/was pretty close. I'd rather him still be going to real school. He's supposed to go in for an official test soon to see if he's learning what he should be.

Quite a lot of them do, but then I'm a teacher in upper secondary school so it would have been quite sad if they didn't :-)
I'm going to make a quiz on black holes for my physics class for after Easter. I know one of them really like astrophysics and especially black holes, so I might guess the winner

Some kids really get involved in certain subjects or hobbies don't they? One of my young friends absolutely loves cooking.

@nonersays I think all young people should be taught enough 'home' skills that they can fend for themselves when they're old enough.

Oh, I do. Like most parents I can get frustrated and annoyed, but I treasure time with my boys beyond measure.

@nonersays yours seem to be a very productive and innovative way to encourage such kids , this must be adapted by education institutions as well. Pupils can find that it`s fun way and entertainment as well while they paint and exhibit .. actually this would even make them more curious of what is it exactly that they painted .They may themselves find the answers to them on the youtube rather being obsessed to merely games and cartoons.

It will only do him some good. How does he feel about Pluto? When I was young it was my favorite planet pick.
