Today's Surprise Storm

We had about a 50% chance of afternoon showers today and thought nothing of it. The weatherman did not make a big deal out of it and said most wouldn't even see a sprinkle. We got a light sprinkle following by light rain. Nothing big or bad.
We were sitting in the living room and watching television when we heard a big "BOOM!" It was loud and could have been lightning and thunder. I told my husband that I was going to look outside. We had a tree down. Great!
From the way it split, I really think it was hit by lightning. It is a big old oak tree that was hit. The one good thing about this is that I won't have to worry about mowing that part of the yard. I figured I would look at the bright side and that is what I came up with.
Anyone else get some surprise bad weather today?

Wow--that must have been a surprise! We had some showers this morning--and now the sun is out and shining! I love the rain, especially when it is intermittent-
