Another Mooseless Outing!

I've lived in the province of New Brunswick for over a year. The area around my home is known for an extremely high concentration of moose. The crosses marking fatal accidents along the highway are mostly the result of a close encounter with a moose.
I have not spotted a single moose! Not a one! Hubby and I have gone out almost every weekend on what we call a "moose hunt".
We just want to see one. We don't need to get really close....but one....is that too much to ask?
On Sunday afternoons or evenings we drive down the roads (very slowly) in areas where there are frequent sightings, with no results. We have stopped at hydro right of ways and just watched for a while. We've gazed across miles of marsh.....still nothing.
When we pull into the driveway on returning home we sigh and comment....
"Another mooseless outing!"

Love the pun mooseless and we only ever hear the deer hear mostly although there are a few in the Park called La Taconera where they have a to do with the goats and then with the swans and then between themselves.

@lovinangelsinstead21 I tell people that we live in Gods country. We have so much to enjoy.
Hubby just pointed out a morning visitor (another pheasant).

We have all manner of wildlife nearby. Last spring I saw a seal in the river.

Moose apparently bellow. They are much larger than deer. And are supposedly quite stupid. I have yet to see one. When I finally do, I'll be shouting it from the rooftop!
I've spotted many deer while driving along the rural road (and most of New Brunswick is rural.)

@Morleyhunt The only wild animals that I often see when picking mushrooms in public forests are wild boars, and I would prefer to not see any, as they may be dangerous.

One day, when we least expect it one will step out in front of us.

Maybe the moose have become aware of your car and have decided not to show up when you expect them but will show up when you least expect them.

That what we keep saying. The memo goes out when we pull out of our driveway....hide....they are on the move.

You know what, I looked it up and at this site it says moose hunting is in Sept. the site has the specific days:
I watch those nature documentaries and most animals migrate during different seasons, so I got curious about moose since you hadn't seen one yet.
Didn't read the whole article.

To see how we pull these monster bulls out of the woods with a weasel check out Taxis River Outfitters on YouTube There is no greater thrill then having an experienced guide call in a 1000lb bull for the taking. New Brunswick has a healthy and growing moos

Huge creatures the moose is. I hope you can find some and be able to capture them on your phone camera if you've got one. You know now that I've got my phone which I most always have off, I see beautiful golden plover which are shy birds, so when I saw one just about 3 feet away I wanted to take a picture, but wouldn't you know it, no phone.

Nature gives us so many gifts to see, but to capture them on your phone is best. My phone doesn't have the close up feature, so though it doesn't have it, I like taking pictures with it. Good luck in your quest for finding the right now elusive moose.

As large as they are I can see why you would want the encounter to be planned and at a distance. Only in person moose I can recall for sure was in a Minnesota Zoo and it looked mangy. I am not sure, we may have seen one on our last trip to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Interesting for us was stopping at a restaurant in Massachusetts and seeing a mom and baby bear ravaging the dumpster. They said that they call the police for that. Do you have bears?

There are bears around, but we haven't seen one yet. They've wandered down Main Street (2 doors down) so I'm sure we'll see some of those before long.

The only area where they supposedly have moose I have never seen them. Only in Alaska I have seen moose in the wild. They walk on the roads there in the wintertime too.

They are often seen on the roads and trails in this part of the world. Moose signs are as common in Maine as they are in New Brunswick.

We do enjoy the drive. We also enjoy the beautiful scenery. The views of the water can be breathtaking.

We've been told they are most active at dusk and dawn. They have been spotted walking down our street ( I apparently wasn't looking for moose that day) .
Eventually we will spot our first moose.

We were lucky to see a magnificent looking one. So beautiful that creature. Alas, it was not alive however.

The only moose I've seen were sleeping in the back of pickup trucks the day after hunting season opened.

That's what they say. We've tried to time our drives to be around dusk. We live beside (in front of) the nearest fresh water source.

They see you coming and step behind a telephone pole or tree.
