He boards a bus for Angarh. Throughout the journey he was surprised to see 80% of the male passenger in an intoxicated state. At each stoppage the conductor had to shake them and push them out of the bus. He is thoughtful, at the same time depressed. His mission, the Vidya Mandir, founded with the help of Brij Bedi, an industrialist does help him to bring orphans and addicted children to the mainstream of social life, but then what about their future after education. This is what depressed him as there was no means to rehabilitate them. Students like Rajwant, Sapna and Anjali have their own dreams of becoming an actor, police and doctor; but then there is some hope for the orphans but what about those re-habilitated addicts? Yet keeps his hopes lighted by keeping in mind these orphaned students hopes and aspirations. He gets down at Angarh at dusk, is received by Sai Manish, a news correspondent. They precede towards in ‘The Railway barrier’ the haven of crime and drugs which hangs like a dark loom over the population. People dread to pass or even go close to the barrier, may it be day or night. What surprised Ajit was that, every few meters that they preceded on foot they were confronted by drug addicts either sprawling on the road after pushing in an Intravenous drug or begging for money on the wrong plea making up some sob stories. Sukhbir, who is just 16(bearing a filthy look, finger tips bulging with puss and chapped skin), leaps in front of the duo a starts pressing them for money. He applies all the tricks to extract the money. He starts boasting, “Give me just Rs.30, it’s not a big amount”. Guess why he was asking the money for.
