I had to try the Florida Lotto while I was there!

How is everyone doing? Probably my last discussion of the evening, and I am running out of steam and inspiration. I have been at work for the last 12 hours and ready to get out of here. I just returned on Tuesday evening from a quick 3-4 day weekend trip to Clearwater Beach, Florida, and while I was there - I thought, why not buy a few lottery tickets, just for fun? I bought 5 PowerBalls (we have these here in Minnesota, too, but they seemed more exotic down there - don't ask), and 5 Florida Lotto's (small jack pots, but I am assuming, Florida-only?). The drawing for these wasn't going to happen until I returned to Minnesota. Me and my mom were speculating; if we won, anything over $1,000, we would fly down the next weekend and get it! Ha! Won Zero on the powerball (does not surprise me) and won "two free tickets" on the Florida Lotto jackpot. Now I am wondering what the heck I am going to do with 2 free Florida Lotto lotto tickets (Any Floridians out here want this? I would be happy to send it down). Do you try lottery when you are traveling?

You'd be one of those people who, on a whim, said what the hell, and bought a ticket, only to WIN the darn thing, making all of us regular players look like fools.

@porwest That would be quite a feat. They tried giving them with a purchase several years ago. That's as close as I ever got to buying a lottery ticket.

I have a school friend that lives in Minnesota but apart from that wish you could have won and I am too far away from Florida but its a nice thought to be able to win anywhere.

I never have when traveling. I can lose just as easily at home!

True! I guess it was more of the novelty of trying it in a different state. Even the tickets look different!

@maezee I did lottery here in Jerusalem with a friend but I am not good at picking numbers so we stopped. We did not win anything.

Well, they probably only seem more exotic elsewhere since it's a place you don't normally play, and so you feel like you have a better chance of being a winner since you are playing outside of your normal playing area. While of course that's fantasy, I do exactly the same thing. I play in Kansas, Missouri, Illinois, and Wisconsin mostly since I am often traveling to these places on business. I currently live in Illinois, though, so of course I play there more often. And since I am minutes from St. Louis, I tend to play a lot in Missouri as well since I am there a lot.

I never buy lottery tickets. The only raffle tickets I normally buy are to support a local cause....even then I just look at it as a donation with a minuscule chance of me winning anything, I never win.

I also want to buy scratch cards from Lotto when we go to Manila but it feels like such an inconvenience. But if we pass by the Lotto outlet, why not.
