Do Grades define intelligence or future for someone...???

Well, being an average student I have always struggled to score. Sometimes in some subjects I excelled while sometimes I was a total failure. But I do remember, there were bunch of kids from my high school and college who were even hopeless than me, they were failing mostly at everything. But somehow, many of them are now settled with good jobs and living even finer life compared to me. I think, down line I have realized, grades were just numbers; I am sure they are important to an extent, but they just can't decide our destiny. Just because I am a scholar doesn't mean I will be earning rich. Plus, intelligence is also not something that comes with grades, my colleague was a below average student, but if you talk to him, its clear he is way more intelligent than what an above average student should be. What do you think on this....?
