As some of you know, I did a "fix" on my Martin D-18 acoustic guitar a couple of months ago. I glued down some binding that was "coming up" along the edge of the guitar. Binding is little more than a plastic strip at separates the sides from the guitar's top or bottom.
But an area that I had repaired was coming up again, so I had to re-glue a 2" "line" and see if it would hold. I think my repair was successful, but I now have to sand down the area to make the transition smooth. I'm using 800 grit sandpaper, followed by a buffing compound (shown) and see what occurs.
Here's a link to the original post. I'm going to do a bit of work on it today, as I have a day off. Wish me luck!
The work I did on my Martin D-18 guitar, gluing down the binding that had come up, was a success. But after a couple of months, the binding I'd glued started...

@Tampa_girl7 Thanks, Marie. I'm going to take it out to a friend's place and do some jamming right now. I'll be able to see it in a different light (literally).

No, I called Martin Guitar's repair department to ask about that. And then I watched a couple of videos on Stu Mac's website (they make the glue). The consensus was that as long as I stick with really fine sandpaper (800 grit) and Meguiar's #7 car polish, I'd be OK.

Buffing compound? Looks like toothpaste, which probably would work, too.

@BarBaraPrz I hear tooth paste works for things like headlights. But I use one of the Dollar Tree's "miracle cleaners."

@andriaperry There's a little gap that still needs a touch of glue. I'm going to give things a few days to dry, and then finish that up.
