My New Tulips Are In Bloom

Last fall I bought a few bags of bulbs to plant in a raised bed I have. In my normal fashion, I left them sitting on the counter all fall. Before I left for Florida I decided it would be wasteful not to plant them. I asked Brandon to dig a long row for me and I just stuck all the bulbs in the row and covered them up. Brandon got a bucket of water from the pool and watered them and that was it. I checked when I got home to see if anything was happening but nope it wasn't. All of a sudden things are busting out all over. I guess that even if I don't have a green thumb, these tulips are hearty enough to survive me.

Maybe Georgia is not the perfect climate for them. I certainly never give mine any care, I stick the bulbs in and let them go on their own.

@BelleStarr I may have to investigate and see, I also have a dog and I kind of think he is fighting me by peeing on my plants.

I love tulips and they are nice to look at when they are blooming well. I think you are lucky that this plant grows easy on your place as it will not survive on my place because its way to hot for it to survive.

@BelleStarr Oh I see I have never seen someone trying to plant that in here. Our tulips are all imported abroad and are refrigerated so it won't dry fast. I think they cannot tolerate long hours of temperate climate. Florida although they have temperate climate but they also have cold seasons as well.

@BelleStarr I have a thing for tulips, mainly because of the The Black Tulip novel from Dumas. I loved that book when I was a kid .
