Claudia´s neck problem seems serious.

I am finally home after a whole day going to 2 doctors with Claudia and staying while she had an Rx taken. Tomorrow she will take 3 more tests and exams (one is a special scan and the other is an MRI). The doctor seems to have found a degenerative situation in her neck. Depending on how big is the problem, it could be helped for a while with special exercises. If things are worse, she will need surgery. I asked the doctor how dangerous was the surgery and what was the prognosis. He told me that these procedures were not risky any more. But Claudia is terrified and I don´t know what to do but be there for her. Tomorrow she asked me to go to her house to be in charge of the kids while she went with Rafael to the exams. I hope everything turns out for the better.

Wait and see what further tests show. My husband had spine surgery in his neck area, and many people I know had back surgery. All are fine, well, and happy.

I have surgery in the lumbar part about 20 years ago. So far, fine. Once in a while it hurts. But it also hurt before the procedure.

Poor Claudia. When someone is terrified it's hard to reassure them. Just being there would be a help however.

I have cervical radiculopathy and arthritis in my neck and they have suggested surgery. I will not do it. I try to stay limber and I try to stay active. I am stiff in the morning, I have discomfort all day, but I will NOT go under the knife.

@marguicha I have a lot of pain too. But every single person I have ever talked to who went the surgery route had worse pain after, I don't think surgery is the answer,

I am so sorry to hear this. In the end it isn't that serious, and the doc already said that the procedure isn't risky, that's good to hear, isn't it @marguicha ? I am pretty sure the scan will tell is nothing serious and all she needs is some rehabilitation and it's all done!

@marguicha Wonderful, the more specialists she sees, the better. I am sure she will be fine, and no extra procedure will be needed!

My brother had to have surgery on his neck. It was not degenerative but was due to him hurting himself lots of times as a kid. He did not follow instructions well the first time and got an infection and had it redone like a month later. He just had back surgery recently for another problem. It is important to follow the instructions. It is good Claudia has you.

I had surgery on my neck, c5-c6 fusion back in October and I am fine. I did have really bad muscle pain in my neck and shoulder for about a week.

it will all depend on Claudia. Though today's treatment and procedures have improve a lot, doing surgery always has its risks

Procedures have improved a lot. The doctor will have the last say.
