Not Enough Winter!

@paigea That is super cold! We didn't get to ski . . . we were only able to visit lower level snow areas. We were trying for Snow Valley (or was it Snow Summit) . . . and then Mt. Baldy, I think - in Southern CA. But since the roads got messed up from all the rain, we couldn't make it to skiing anywhere. We were refunded the entire reservation - and we got vouchers (but never made it out there).

This ski hill had at least one day this past winter when it was -30C so they didn't start lifts until it got a bit warmer. That is their cut off temp. I don't know how often it happened. I know someone who was there when they didn't open. Where do you ski?

My husband took up skiing at 58! So you have time!

When the yard is covered with snow I appreciate the break from all that yard work.

@rebelann I like playing outdoors. Downhill Skiing, X country skiing, skating. Also, cycling, kayaking, and gardening. (but not too much gardening)

We had a great relaxing holiday in addition to skiing. Almost makes me think of retiring!

We did not have a huge amount of snow where we live. This ski hill had less than some years. But it is staying longer due to a cool spring.

@paigea I remember the first time I tried it. I definitely made marks in the snow and they wasn't from my skies. By the end of the day with much laughing I got the hang of it,

@paigea I just checked Killington and they are going to have skiing this Memorial Day weekend which is the one coming up.

@BelleStarr Amazing. They have opened on Canada day -June 1st. That was for a special year like 150.

@paigea I dislike the summer heat as much as I hate the cold, mid seasons are my favorite.

I like summer as long as I can find a way to keep cool

@paigea I couldn't learn now. I'm not in good physical shape and I would probably end up breaking something.

My husband learned at 57! My dad skiid until he was 80!

@paigea spring grasses here've needed to be tended to 'n i'm tryin' to get a handle'n the weed population i inherited from the hubs. nearly 5 acres worth, though such could be worse, lol. we're low 90's one day, high's strugglin' to mid 40's the next. can't wait 'til late spring when such's more stable :)

I do enjoy summer too. The lawn may need to be mowed when we get home. Though it hasn't been that warm there either.

@crazyhorseladycx Today we drove home. No leaves out yet. No lawn to mow yet. Plenty to do though. If some of those weeds are dandelions, have you ever used them to make dandelion tea?

@paigea Ah, I've been there! The Canadian Rockies are something else!

You and I are the snow lovers!

We are having a very cool summer so far. I love skiing etc. so couldn't give up winter! But I don't go out If cold is unbearable.

It even amazed people here. They don't realize that high up there is still a lot of snow. That was a month ago. They are closed now, but there is still snow.

@paigea I'm surprised you were able to move bundled up like that!. Actually, it would take a lot more clothing to keep me warm. So glad you had a good time.

Look how bundled up we are! And it was not THAT cold. Good thing we waited until spring, there were some pretty cold days here this past winter

There are a lot of Australians who work at the ski hills here.
