Do you like monkeys? / myLot

Monkeys are smart animals, but I don't like them at all. I found a funny picture with a monkey. They aren't cute at all for me. They are amazing for some people, but not for me. Do you think that monkeys were our ancestors? Do you like them?

The picture you show is of a Chimpanzee, which is an ape, not a monkey. Monkeys have tails; apes do not. I like all animals, so it follows that I like monkeys and apes. Monkeys, apes and humans have a common ancestor but the apes are more closely related to us and chimpanzees are the closest of all animals, even though our common ancestor lived many millions of years ago.

Very observant indeed, I have not noticed that at first glance but after reading your post I now remember that there is a difference between the two species.

@rsa101 There's a very big difference between monkeys and apes and, of course, a big difference between apes and the various species of human (of which only one exists today), though we are still essentially 'apes'.

I didn't know this was a Chimpanzee. This description was at this picture: Mixed-Breed monkey between Chimpanzee and Bonobo. In our country Chimpanzees are considered monkeys. This is the term we use for apes.

I don't like monkeys. They may be our ancestors. Their behaviour matches with the human beings. They like to eat bananas. But I don't. I just hate them. Even scared of them.

I am also afraid of monkeys, they can be dangerous.
