I figured it out

Train Depot for the Abilene excursion train

I figured out where my pictures had gone when I mailed them from my phone to my computer. I will be sharing a few pictures from the field trip May 3. For the most part, we did not go into a lot of the buildings, because we had really young kids, plus some families and siblings. They really do not concentrate well talking about museums. We did go into the Heritage Center, though. This picture is the train depot for the restored train that we rode. It had a gift shop inside, I believe. This is one of the buildings we did NOT go into with thirty three or more students. We got on the train, an adult went in and paid for us. The entire train system and guides, etc. are volunteers. They do it because they love trains and history. Our guide was a very pleasant older lady. So, when I am not at work, I will be sharing about the field trip.

What a shame not to visit buildings, I am sure they were interesting to see.

Hubby and I can go, take our time and not worry about someone touching or breaking something.

@LadyDuck Yes. I loved going on the field trip, but that many little hands are a handful.

It was three entire grade levels, so it was not too bad. We had lots of adults on hand.

I'm glad you found your pictures. I'm also glad you had a good field trip with lots of pictures. I look forward to seeing and hearing more about it. Sometimes, it's best not to take a lot of students into a building.

They were really interested in the old telephone equipment. They were allowed/encouraged to pet a beaver pelt and compare it to the beard of a buffalo. They also got to try an old time dial up phone system.

Some of these tourist places would be absolutely lost without volunteers. i can understand why you didn't take 33 kids into a gift shop!

I am sure we are appreciated all the way around. These are kind of little kids and somewhat impulsive. Love volunteers.

Where did the train go?

The train went through a stretch of old reconstructed buildings, past some fields with antique farming equipment, and to the outskirts of Enterprise, Kansas. This is the field trip version of the ride. They have a tour to some other towns and at some point passengers disembark the train and get on a bus that can go on the rails. Our excursion took about an hour total.

@GardenGerty Sounds like fun. At least it didn't just go in a little circle.
