Are You Afraid Of Artificial Intelligence?

MyLot Exclusive #179 Are you afraid of AI? I keep hearing scary stories about the number of jobs that are going to be eliminated in the next ten years and I say, SPEED IT UP! The jobs we have now (At least in the US) are worthless and the people are not mad enough yet to really do anything about it. We need a jolt of sudden anger to get things changed. Our current system needs to go and should have been dumped a long time ago. Slaving away for nothing (For many people, it's not just slaving away at one job but two or three) is no way to live but that's how the majority of Americans are living anyway. At the same time, the fantasy of the booming economy mostly goes unchallenged, the President and the Senate are crooks who use the Constitution for toilet paper (While laughably claiming the other side does) and very little is being done about that, too. People just don't seem to care very much. So let's get the AI perfected to the point where it takes most jobs and maybe that will finally make people stand up and demand the change we should have had decades ago. Universal Minimum Incomes and other systems are already being designed to painlessly ease us into the stage where no one has to work. Let's start using them now rather than later. And while we're at it, we need to sentence people like Donald Trump and Mitch McConnell to life at hard labor. Sure, machines can do a better job of digging ditches but at their ages, they're not going to do much digging before they die anyway. So Win-Win. #WEALTHREDISTRIBUTIONNOW

I can see the day when AI's take over the workforce and people will be out of jobs. It makes me wonder how people will earn or if everyone will be on welfare. Or will we have jobs like George Jetson and just push a button.

That day is coming. People our age may even live long enough to see it. And yeah, I think welfare is the wrong way to put it but since everyone can understand the idea, it's an accessible way to put it. It'll be like the Star Trek economy. No one will have to work but some jobs will be available for those who want to work, ones that machines just can't do. It's going to be a tremendous improvement. I wish it would happen today.

@just4him All change is scary. But it almost always turns out to be better.

I would say I am leery of AI, but not afraid of it, no.

It's going to take all the jobs anyway, which I see as a great thing, so why not now rather than later?

we over-estimate our intelligence - the machines may well do better than we ever did

@xander6464 Unlikely our robot overlords will get themselves nominated for the annual Darwin Awards unlike the idiots who do
The Darwin Awards! Since Boldly tracking the Human Evolution Revolution. Humankind is a devolving species, Homo sapiens sapiens isn't so smart, and with the intelligence of the species MIA and presumed dead, the impending extinction of the human race seems

@arthurchappell The Darwin Awards are one of the best arguments for turning over everything to machines.

I don't think it's possible for them to do any worse.

@Mavic123456 It's nothing like that. She just lives here. That's all.

I'm not really close to Siri but I live with Alexa...Even though she lives here, we're just friends. Don't believe what they say about us on TMZ...and based on the fact that she can't even answer most of my questions, I have little fear of her taking over the world.

No, not afraid - because someone will need to make the AI - that will make more jobs. And since humanoid Androids aren't functional yet - maybe more people will work jobs that seem hard to fill like servers and restaurant staff - that's a real issue around here, apparently good help for restaurant is hard to find. Oh and can we please have humanoid androids soon. Sure it'll chop into jobs, but on the other hand stuff should be cheaper since Androids don't need a paycheck - unless they become self aware.... that could be a problem.... leading to a future where they take over. Kind of like some smart person is writing a story about

I can't wait for that story. I think it's going to be the greatest thing ever when people no longer have to work.

Thank you, Martin. I've never gotten a compliment that big before. It's not true, I am really human but I'm glad at least one person thinks I'm not.

Yeah, there are a lot of movies that make it seem like a bad idea but I still don't think there's much real danger.

Maybe AI can replace politicians? That would be a huge improvement of the intelligent pool now found in the legislative and executive branch of gov't.
