It is time for a long break in school. My younger one so happily left for school in morning as it closes today for the summer break. There will be a party after the class so he demanded soft drinks, packed snacks instead of homemade food.
He already got lot of holiday home works. Then on reopening school on July 3, his unit test will begins (date sheets also provided already). So the holidays won’t be that much fun. He has to work for his school works as well. However, I am not sure how much he will concentrate on studies. It is a relieving period for me, as I don’t want to get up at early morning for sending him to school.
Do you have holidays for school in this month in your place?

@cacay1 It was indeed a tough time for me by living away (Far away) from native, looking after children, doing the job then works at home. When they were small, they were unwell often, younger one had all the problems like typhoid, pneumonia etc, now it is hard to believe I survived all those period and faced all those bravely.

Do you do year-round school there? I find most other countries do. Here we usually get most of the summer off which is about three months and they'll get a two-week break for winter and a week for spring break and then usually two or three days around Thanksgiving and Easter and then a day off here and there for other random holidays. Some schools in the US do year round but we still do the summer off here. My son started his summer break on May 30th and will go back sometime in August. He was excited to be done for the summer but is less than thrilled to be entering third grade upon the summer's end. We have no real plans for the summer. My mother-in-law wants to take him for a week but I'm not sure how it will go.

@Sreekala Winter and summer here are pretty bad. Winter gets really cold and summer gets really hot and humid. Most of the schools here don't have air conditioning because they've always gotten summers off but summer heat seems to keep up into the fall now and making the beginning of school much hotter. I think the biggest reason they used to do summers off here was due to farming but I could be wrong. Most people don't farm now the way they used to though.

Here (in Delhi, the capital city of India) the academic session starts in April and ended in March. Since the summer is extreme here they give one and half months break in May and June. Then winter break in first week of January less than 15 days. But the schedule is different in other states, according to the climate of that place. I mean the Summer is taking into consideration and providing a break for school at that time.

In Bangalore, schools close soon after final exams in end of March. It reopens in June and then new academic session begins. There is no holiday homework except for few literature books that they are suggested to read.
Since my elder one is in 10th, they started the session soon after March for two weeks. They will open next week. They didn't get full two months this time.
