When I picked up my daughter from the kindergarten yesterday, I noticed that she was unenergetic. Not so Hyorin. I asked, “ Are you sad?”
“I feel cold.” She replied.
The spring air was refreshing, and the sun was warm. I knew there was something wrong when she said she was feeling cold. I held her hands and kept up with her slow sluggish stride. Fortunately, I cooked dinner early, so I gave her pork stew with potatoes as soon as we got home. This she ate with much gusto while we were video calling with my mom. Her grandmom noticed that Hyorin was not feeling well, so we decided to hang up. Then, I attended Hyorin. She fell asleep right away but was awaken when she felt the damp cloth on her skin. I gave her a sponge bath to cool down her fever, 37.9. It rose to 38.7 later in the night. So I finally gave her anti-fever medicine. I did not stop patting damp washcloth on her skin until her temperature went down to 37.6 at 4 am.
We hardly slept as she would awaken almost every hour with sobs. I would give her water every time she cried. Then she’d go back to sleep. At 8:30 am, we headed to the pediatric clinic where she was diagnosed with tonsilitis. She was given antibiotic thru a syringe. It took effect right away. As soon as we got home, Hyorin could sit and draw. She ate a little, played a little and then finally went in the land of nod and woke up a little more energetically than yesterday.
I hope she’ll be herself tomorrow.
