Alone with a Book, But Not Lonely

As I wrote a short piece this morning in readiness for my next memoir group gathering, I reflected on the power of reading. I’m a person who will happily spend an afternoon alone with a book. But I never feel lonely.
I know many of you feel the same way. A book is like a friend whose company you enjoy. No matter where you are, or what you’re doing, an enjoyable book provides company.
I read as much from my Kindle as hard copy books these days, mainly because the Kindle is easily transported from one place to another. However, I still enjoy the feel of a book and the sensation of turning pages as often as I can.
I’m never lonely when I have a book nearby.

I hate missing characters from books that I've read. Wondering what they are up to now, knowing that there's no answer to that question.

Book is actually known to be best friend but now due to developed technology we read many ways but I would say, reading hardcopy (earlier technology) is one of my best action till date. I can't read any thing too long focussing on screen but books nothing can compete it

Reading a book that usually is made into a movie is better since more details of the characters in the book are revealed then seeing the movie.

I was a bookworm in my younger days but the internet change my reading habits. I hardly read any books now. But if by chance I decide to read a book I would choose a less precarious place than a rooftop. The one in the photo looks kinda steep. Not suitable for reading. However it would make a good slide if there was a pool below.

I do consider books to be my friends to be honest. I might be weird, but I know others share the same kind of weirdness.

I know the feeling. It's like visiting a good friend when you open a book.

I love that picture.
Your words echo what I feel.
I prefer paperback but I can understand the convenience of an electronic book.
