After writing about Doris Day I found out that Peggy Lipton from the hit TV series The Mod Squad passed away on May 11th at the age of 72 due to cancer. She was born in New York as Margaret Ann Lipton on August 30, 1946. She began her career as a model and became an actress landing the role of Julie Barnes on the police series The Mod Squad in the late 1960s. After the show ended she went on to play in Twin Peaks. Peggy Lipton made her TV debut at 19 on The John Forsythe Show and got roles on other series like Bewitched, The Alfred Hitchcock Hour and The Virginian. Playing with her on The Mod Squad as undercover “hippie cops” were Michael Cole and Clarence Williams III. The series got Lipton four Emmy nominations and a 1971 Golden Globe Award for Best Actress in a TV drama. She parlayed her role on The Mod Square into a singing career and had success on the charts with cover versions of “Stoney End” by Laura Nyro and “Wear Your Love Like Heaven” by Donovan.
