This is where we went

We went to Emporia, Kansas, to the David Traylor Zoo. It is not a big zoo. We visited all the exhibits within an hour. There are many things I appreciate here. Love the flowers and landscaping of this zoo. It has lots of nice water features as well. I appreciate the signage, both the permanent signs and the ones that just explain a current situation. For instance there was a big huge type of bee everywhere. It is about four times as large as a regular honey bee. There was a display of images of native bees. These were carpenter bees. The signs told us they are not aggressive and also that they were busy pollinating the flowers. We learned about a lemur that is thirty-two years old and he gets special care. Also got information about the trumpeter swans, and a rescued two year old bald eagle that had damage from avian pox. It is neat to read what they do for these animals. We did not picnic at the zoo, but went to a park later on.

@GardenGerty I have only ever scanned a QR code once and it was at a grocery store. I am sure those things will become more and more popular, but I don't know that I'll eve ruse them. The name looked familiar (William Allen White) but I had to look it up. You are referring to the leader of the progressive movement?

@ScribbledAdNauseum Yes, although I mostly think of him because there is a statewide children's book award named for him. I am not sure if it is recognized all over or not, but my kids had to read William Allen White books in school for some of their reading credits.
