1770 - 14-year-old Marie Antoinette and 15-year-old Louis-Auguste wed - Louis-Auguste will later become King of France.
1866 - The United States Congress established the nickel.
1919 - Liberace (Wladziu Valentino Liberace) was born. He was an American pianist, singer and actor. He was a child prodigy and started playing the piano at age 4. 1942-44-moved away from straight classical and played classical/pop.
1950s-1970s he was the highest paid entertainer in the world. "Mr. Showmanship" By 1955 he was making $50,000 per week plus $1 million per year in public appearances and TV. 1970s-1980s He was making $300,000 per week!!!! He died on 2/4/87.
1955 - Olga Korbut was born. She was a Belarusian gymnast who won 4 gold and 2 silver medals in the 1972 and 1976 Olympics.

And that's a lot of money that he was making back then! Wonder how much that would be today!
