Making a home

Hubby says the robins are nesting in one of the cedars. He found an egg that had fallen to the ground.
The wrens and finches have discovered the bird house in my display area. I believe the wrens have selected it as a home. It was supposed to be a decorative bird house hubby's sister sent years ago. Much of the outer decor is gone. Ideally, if I had realized that it would actually be used, I would have given it some upgrades.
Wrens do not need perches, and the perch will tend to make the babies vulnerable to larger birds that will sit on it and put their head in. So I would have removed the perch. We would have drilled vent holes at the top for air circulation and drain holes in the bottom.
It is said that wrens will nest anywhere, however, including in the tops of flower pots with plants and in old boots.
The hummingbird has been by to visit my red petunias, as well.
It is a busy morning at my house.
There appears to be a storm rolling in.

I have not had swallows at my house that I know of. They are so good to eat the bugs.

@LadyDuck At one of the petting zoos they always have barn swallows. We also have them down by that river that flooded. It is fun to watch them swooping and catching insects.

I have to set out our birdhouse. It fell to the ground sometime during the winter when the winds were whipping.
May need to buy a new hummingbird feeder. A couple of the perches have broken off, but it is still usable so I may just try to give this feeder one more season of use.
The sun is shining brightly today and my plan is to hit a perennial sale at one of the local churches and also go to a greenhouse for some plants too.

@GardenGerty they do come to their favorite flowers, but do enjoy the feeders too.

I am jealous. Someone on Facebook said it is better for the hummers just to plant their favorite food flowers.

@ElusiveButterfly The years I have had feeders they only attracted ants. I would like one to hang out in my display, though.

I am not that fortunate. With a big garden like ours there sure will be birds building nests but I have so far not spotted any I did spot one a long time ago which was destroyed by some other birds.

I always feel as if they are looking in my front window, saying "Where's the buffet?"

I moved where I feed them, and that is where we have the most droppings.

I hope the wrens will be safe in their new home. Are you looking forward to a storm?
It will be 90 degrees here today, but I am going up to the mountains this morning. We will stop to eat breakfast and then a late lunch.

No, actually except for the bird house they are planters. I was hoping they would attract birds and they have. I do keep food and water out for them in other places.

maybe they are sometimes
