I have another couple of weeks of work ahead of me and then I am off to France for 3 weeks! We will be in Paris for 5 days, then biking through the Loire valley, and then I think headed to Burgandy for a couple of days before going to the Alsace--specifically Colmar and Strasbourg-- I have never been to France before so I am excited. We are renting a car for parts of the Loire and Burgundy--this will be a first for me--I have never driven in another country before.

Be careful driving in France, driving in Europe is A LOT more difficult than in the United States. I would suggest NOT to drive in Paris at all if you can.

I am a little apprehensive about it actually. I am driving mostly in the countryside--in the Loire Valley and in Burgandy--but I have never driven in another country before--

@LadyDuck I would be too afraid to drive there--and it isn't really needed. We will take the train to Amboise and rent a car there. Our cottage is about 5 km in off the beaten track in a little town called Bleure I believe--

@divalounger I do not drive, my husband does and he repeats all the time how is incredibly relaxing to drive in the United States and stressing to drive in Europe. Our roads are narrow, the traffic is very bad. You surely will have no problems driving the countryside, but Paris is really BAD!

Colmar!!!! You'll love it, it's beautiful. It looks like a fairytale town. I was driving a car in another country and I had some fear, maybe because I did not know that part, and a little differ from the traffic

@divalounger Well, for me, it was unusual, because I did not know that part, and I tell you, the traffic signs are a little different

You must be so excited! Our son drove from Italy throughout France with his wife 3 years ago. Just be very careful.

I take it you have your international license so you can drive in another country. Have fun in France. I'm sure you will have lots of fun and lots of memories.

Thanks! The last I looked you don't need to have an international drivers license, but I am going to pick one up at AAA this week just in case.

Wow I am so excited for your trip to France. I have never been to France either, but I am glad for the people who achieve that. I am pretty sure you will have an amusing time over there. I hope you can take photos from the locations you will be so we all can enjoy with you!

I am hoping to take lots of pictures--it may sound dorky, but I love to take pictures of doors and Paris has some wonderful doors!

@divalounger That's not dorky at all. I think is wonderful that there are certain features from places that get your attention the most. I will be happy to see the shots. Good luck with that! And please try to learn some French words to teach us! I am trying to learn another language outer English wich is my great love! Now it's me the one who's being dorky haha
