I am sooooo mad I have no words. Well I do but this post would be deleted. There is a guy that lives down the road from me that also leases the property across the street from me. He brings his cattle over there to range. His horse on the other hand is usually staked out in the ditch in front of his property 'all day long'; even in the summer when it's 100 degrees and there is no shade. Well yesterday, he staked him out in the ditch across from me at 7am. At 4:30pm, he came to move the horse from one side of the driveway to the other. Now mind you; we had severe storms that were coming about that same time. I drove up there and he had already gotten into his pickup and I pointed to the horse and gave the guy my version of the 'big ugly'; (eyebrows touching tip of nose with sparks flying from my eyes). He left and within minutes the first storm hit. Do ya think he came back and got the horse?????? Hell NO!!!!!! The second storm hit at 5:30. I called the County Sheriff and they said they would take a look. Thunder, lightning, high winds, severe downpour. No coverage; no shelter. The storm lasted until 7:30 and I called the Sheriff back. Yeah well; because there was NO HAIL and the horse didn't look malnourished; no biggie. That horse was still there at 4 this morning. Now mind you; had I released the horse or brought him to my property to shelter, I would have been arrested for 'horse stealing'. You have no idea how badly I want to beat the HELL out of that SOB.

i'm tellin' ya, 'n some counties'n e'ery stinkin' state they seem to be most lax 'bout the laws protectin' critters. 'twas my understandin' that'n the state 'f texas shelter must be provided 't all times?? could be mistaken 'n jest be'n certain counties. i wonder how they're gonna feel when that poor horse gets spooked staked out there 'n injures 'tself?? yer correct, ya'd been 'rrested 'n no doubt convicted 'f horse theft. spend ya some time 'hind bars 'n pay out the nose fer legal fees 'n such. odd how that works, eh?

@crazyhorseladycx When I started the only animal shelter in the county in 2008, you'd be surprise how little help I received from the city or county. No funding and I had to build the shelter on my own property.

Yep, the laws state shelter at all times @crazyhorseladycx but you'd be amazed at how lax it is here. The major problem is that even in my county; there is only 1 person that does Animal Control and trust me; he's busy 24-hours a day. Between loose dogs, cats and starving horses, goats, sheep, pigs, etc., his hands are full. My biggest fear for that horse is that there was an electric pole not 15 feet from him. Can you imagine a lightning strike hitting the ground where he was already standing in water?

Maybe someone should leave him in the ditch during a storm and see how much he enjoys it.

That's just so unfair, they should take the horse away from this person.

I imagine the only food the horse ever gets is when he is staked out someplace @NJChicaa .

I hate people who abuse animals.

That is my biggest pet peeve @dya80dya . And apparently people forget that God put animals on this planet first and told man to take care of them.

So much drama people create. I hope things have calmed down now.
