1873 - Levi Strauss and Jacob Davis receive a U. S. patent for blue jeans with copper rivets
1944 - Joe Cocker was born. (One of my favorites!) He was an English singer/songwriter. 1968 - With a Little Help From My Friends, 1969 - He performed at Woodstock, 1974 - You Are So Beautiful, 1983-Won a Grammy for Up Where We Belong, a duet he did with Jennifer Warnes. He is #97 on Rolling Stones 100 Greatest Singers. He died of lung cancer in 2014. He smoked 2 packs of cigarettes a day until 1991.
1946 - Cher (pictured above) was born (Cherilyn Sarkisian). She is an American singer/songwriter, actress and producer and the Goddess of Pop. She first became popular as Sonny and Cher. 1965 - I Got You Babe. She has been in many movies, including Moonstruck for which she won an Academy Award in 1987. She's recorded many songs, one of which is If I Could Turn Back Time
