Animal fair

In June there is a big animal fair on my island. It takes place every year and there are many different kinds of animals. I haven't been there for years, but if I visit it again I would like to see the rabbits. I love animals in general, but rabbits are some of my favorite animals. Many years ago I visited the animal fair with my father and my brother. There was a contest. We had to guess the number of coins in a jar and the person who was closest to the correct amount won a goat. The prize was standing next to jar, and we watched her eat while we looked at the jar. My brother grabbed a piece of paper, but my father didn't want us to participate. He said: "What do you think mom is going to say if we return with a goat?" My brother who was very young at the time yelled: "She will be so happy, the goat can live in our yard" My father finally decided to let us participate, but he didn't have to worry, we didn't win

Wow! What a lucky people you are! animal fair!!! I would love to attend such fairs to have a look at those animals attending the fair! May I know what for the fair is held? To sell the animals? If yes, fwhat is the purpose? If I am not wrong they must be selling them as animals meant for food for us! No?

@Porcospino , That is a wonderful idea then! I would love to visit such fairs and spend a day with those loving animals there! Thanks for sharing the useful information! Some pictures added would have made this discussion more interesting!

I think it is possible to buy some of the animals, but that isn't the main purpose. The purpose is entertainment. The visitors can look at the animals, visit a small theme park (inside the animal fair) and buy food and drinks. The entrance fee is expensive, and that is how they earn most of the money.

@AKRao24 It takes place in the middle of June. If we go I will write about my experience and take some photos. I would love to see the rabbits and the other animals. I love most animals, and I haven't been to this fair since I was a child.

Well, I think it was a valuable lesson in letting you participate all the same. It taught your brother that it's okay to lose sometimes. I am sure your mother was happy that you didn't return with a goat. My aunt had two goats at one time and both had to live in the house for part of the winter. They got rid of the goats after awhile, but I don't remember why.

When we got home my brother told my mother that we almost won a goat. My brother was disappointed, but 'I am sure my mother didn't share his disappointment. She loves animals, but a goat in the yard wasn't part of her plans for the future

@Porcospino I wonder if it would have even been allowed. I mean, was there an ordinance to block or limit what animals could be kept in a yard?

@ScribbledAdNauseum It depends where you live. In the cities it isn't allowed and we lived in a city. In the countryside we probably would have been able to do it.

You could have sold the goat or given it to poor people. No problem there.

I think we would have done that if we had actually won. It would probably have been possible to find a buyer at the fair.

Yes, I would like to visit it again. I know it takes place every year, but I haven't been there since I was a child. I don't know if they still have contests where you can win animals. Maybe they do.

@Hannihar We also have shelters. Some of them only have cats and some of them have several different animals. Many years ago we adopted a cat from one of the shelters. We don't have her anymore, but she lived with us for many years.

@Porcospino It is usually cats and dogs that they want to be adopted. The shelters are very full and overcrowded so they do this so people can see what they have for adoption.

There are several of them in my country. My family and I visited the one on our island when I was a child, but I haven't been there since that time. It could be fun to visit it again.

Yes, I think we would have done that if we had won it. My brother wouldn't have been happy, but we wouldn't have been able to keep it, and it would be illegal as well since we lived in a city.

Many of them are farm animals like horses, cows, sheep and goats. They also have an area for small animals like rabbits. If we go I would like to see the rabbits.

I do not think we have something like that here, but I'm not sure. Your father seems to be a funny man

Here it takes place every summer. It is a pretty big event with many visitors. My father, my brother and I usually had fun at the fair, but my father and my brother definitely didn't agree about the goat
